Your shoulder is the most mobile joint in your body, which also makes it easy to strain. Reaching overhead, lifting, throwing or sleeping on one side can all lead to pain. Dr. Joe adjusts the shoulder itself, not just the spine, which many chiropractors don't do.

Shoulder problems we see

  • Rotator cuff strain and irritation
  • Shoulder impingement (pain lifting the arm overhead)
  • Stiff, painful shoulders, including frozen shoulder
  • Pain from lifting, throwing, swimming or golf
  • Shoulder pain that comes from the neck or upper back

How Dr. Joe helps

  • Extremity adjusting for the shoulder joint, collarbone and shoulder blade
  • Adjustments to the neck and upper back, which control much of how the shoulder moves
  • Soft tissue work and Vibracussor for tight muscles around the shoulder
  • Activator and Arthrostim instrument adjusting for sensitive areas

When to see a medical doctor first

See a doctor for a shoulder that looks deformed after a fall, an arm you can't lift at all after an injury, or a shoulder that's hot and swollen with a fever. Call 911 for shoulder or arm pain with chest pressure or shortness of breath, which can be a heart problem.

Frequently asked questions

Can a chiropractor help a rotator cuff injury?

Chiropractic care can help with pain and motion from strains and irritation. A full tear may need an orthopedic evaluation, and Dr. Joe will refer you if your exam points that way.

Does frozen shoulder get better?

Frozen shoulder usually improves over time, though it can take months. Care focuses on keeping the shoulder and the joints around it moving.

I lift weights. Can you help?

Yes. See sports chiropractic.
